The challenge
For the Monaco Pipeline project in Southern Germany the difficulty was to find railway stations where pipes could be loaded from the wagons onto our trailers. Because the pipes were 15 meter long, enough extendable trailers needed to be arranged. Also, storage locations needed to be available to temporary store the pipes. An additional challenge was to have as little impact on the local area as possible and to minimize the possible financial risks for our client.
The journey
The client included Lubbers Pipelines when they sent out their request for a quotation (RFQ) to a small number of contractors. We have a proven track record in pipeline projects. We are known to keep coordination and execution of the work in one hand. And we have a lot of experience in dealing with issues like communicating with neighbours, arranging transports through city centres, using the safest roads and finding locations that meet all standards. Based on the quality of our all-inclusive offer and our competitive bid, we were granted the project.
Our solution
A thorough preparation is key with these kinds of projects. We discussed all stages and possible pitfalls of the project in the pre-move meeting. We executed route surveys and aligned with railway station owners and with farmers. All the while we guarded our client’s wishes and conditions by continuous planning, monitoring and evaluating. Both railway stations and 21 storage locations were selected in close consideration with the client.
We took care of and coordinated the entire transport with our specialized crew. We prepared both the railway stations and the storage locations, which we also secured. To arrange safe passage we (re-)positioned road signs. We provided all cranes and trucks to execute 96 loads per day. The client was updated on a daily basis. After the project was done, we shared all lessons learn during an evaluation meeting.

The work has been executed in time, within budget and without any incident. What we delivered was a smooth end-to-end logistic service.
