Rigmove2

Local rigmove in France

A valued client of ours has awarded us with a local mob- and demobilization of a complete drilling rig within France. The drilling-rig had completed a drilling project in Trefols (F-51210) and needed to be mobilized to start a new drilling project in Sancy-Les-Provins (F-77320), 25 km away.

The complete drilling-rig consisted of 70 trailer loads. This also included various exceptional loads that had to be transported with a special transport combination. This included two heavy mud pumps of 40 tons each and a 44-ton Topdrive. The Topdrive is the part that lowers and pulls the heavy drill-pipes and drill-bit into and out of the well. A load that also needed special attention was the Pick-up Lay-down machine. This machine is 18 meters long, 2.70 m wide and has a height of 2.90 m.

Permits and escort vehicles have been arranged for all exceptional transports.

To make the rigmove run efficiently, the transports were executed via a shuttle service of 6 truck-trailer combinations. Two combinations could be loaded and unloaded smoothly and the other two were on their way to the loading and offloading sites at that time. In the meantime, a few loads have also been brought to Austria and Romania. Lubbers’ international transport forwarding department was used to organize these trips.

At both the loading and unloading locations we have organized the telescopic cranes and the associated riggers and banksman to supervise the lifting. When we carry out a large number of transports and cranes are used, a transport- and crane plan is always drawn up. This was also organized during this move.

The entire project was completed in 5 working days to the full satisfaction of the client.
