Transport and handling of two chalets

The challenge

Our project department received a request to move and handle two living units (chalets). The biggest unit was 11.65m long, 4.82m wide and 3.40m high and had a weight of 11 Ton. The smaller unit was 7.14m long, 3.58m wide and had the same width. It weighed 6,5 Ton. It was a short route from Emmen to Schoonebeek (NL), only 25 km.

Our solution

The biggest unit was loaded on a 4-axle semi low-loader which was extended during transport. Besides the length, the width really made it an exceptional transport. Therefor an escort vehicle was used. The smaller unit was moved on a 3-axle semi low-loader which did not have to be extended.

The access road to the delivery address was narrow; the load only had a few centimeters clearance. The driver also had to drive into reverse, which made it more of a challenge. He was guided by making use of a transceiver.

At the delivery address we organized a 60 Ton telescopic crane with a spreader bar. The spreader bar ensures that the forces are more evenly distributed. The offloading process was guided by a banksman from Lubbers.

The result

The two units were safely moved and installed at the delivery address. The customer was very happy with our professional service.
